Why I joined Alpha Phi: I grew up hearing that when you join a sorority it is a lifelong journey. Little did I know how true that would be. Upon landing in the courtyard of Sigma I knew it was the right choice. Although I have many fond memories from the four years living in the house, it is now that I appreciate and enjoy the sisterhood and friendships built along the way. From the first day of pledging up to today I continue to be in awe of the amazing women who are a part of Alpha Phi.
Why I love Seattle: As a Seattle native, I have only moved from the area once for a few short years right out of college which gave me a greater appreciation for family, friends and all the great things the Seattle area has to offer. Seattle, through the good and even bumpy times has remained home. I grew up and to this day spend Saturdays on Montlake which also has led to friends and amazing adventures. I love spending time on the water, attending UW Husky events, volunteering for Alpha Phi and Husky Marching Band Foundation Board, and am fortunate to work for a well respected northwest based company.

Why I joined Alpha Phi: Coming to Seattle from out of state and knowing only 2 people at the university, I knew I wanted to rush. I was looking for more than just friends, I was looking for a home away from home; somewhere I felt accepted for just being me. I found that and so much more at Alpha Phi. I found a community of women that I am proud to belong to. The women of Alpha Phi are intelligent, strong, passionate, kind, and, yes, fun. We can be found all across the world and in every industry. Wherever I go in life, I know there will be an Alpha Phi close by.
Why I love Seattle: There is nothing quite like summer in Seattle. Those beautiful blue sky days help us forget how rainy and cloudy the long fall/winter months last. Seeing the mountain out always puts a smile on my face. While it can be challenging to make friends in the city (Seattle freeze, anyone?), the people who live here are some of the most accepting that I’ve come across. I love how there is always something going on in the city…collegiate & professional sports, music, art, boating, hiking, skiing, gardening…if you can think of it, you can do it in Seattle.
